Well, haven't I been a slacker!

It's been quite some time since I have posted here so lots has happened.

Luka is going well, walking and nearly talking. He started walking about 2 weeks before his 1st birthday.

Here's a pic of us at the end of the day of his party at Nackara.

We've been teaching him sign language. He now knows the signs for 'more', 'hungry', 'drink', 'finished', 'berries', 'outside', and of course 'milk'.
This is a video from when he learnt his first sign.

I'll try to fill the gap in the next for weeks. BBL.

Look at me Mum ...

This is a pic of Luka with his Christmas present. It's supposed to encourage them to stand up. Well, what do you know? It works!

He's sitting up by himself much better now. Not for long, but it gets a little bit more everyday.

I'm hoping all of his caterpillar crawling around will tire him out so much he won't be able to resist a couple of daytime naps.

I can dream.

Not quite crawling, but ...

... more like a worm or a caterpillar.

Luka has been getting around like this since the start of the year. He hasn't quite worked out how to do the traditional type crawling but none-the-less, this is very effective for him.

We have all sorts of barricades up around the living room to stop him getting to things he shouldn't, mainly electrical cables, which he is drawn to like a magnet.

Chris has plans to make us a new tv cabinet which has doors on it to enclose all those buttons and knobs Luka wants so much to play with.

On the food front

We've been doing the whole solids thing for just over a week now. Luka's first food was kiwi fruit, for no particular reason just that I had some organic ones in the fridge.

We're not doing the whole pureed mush thing but what's called "baby-led solids or, baby-led weaning". So, you just cut the food into a chip-like shape and put it in front of him. Like everything else he picks it up and puts it in his mouth.

His 2nd food was broccoli cut into little trees. He holds onto the trunk and eats the tops, well, most of the time. Broccoli made a huge mess since it was pretty soft and broke up easily.

hmmm ... what to try next??? Maybe something orange ... probably sweet potato or pumpkin. Actually, it depends on what they have in the organic fruit and veg section!

The Life of a Bobcat

I've decided to start this blog in an attempt to keep up with Luka's achievements. As the cliche goes, "they just grow so fast..."

Hopefully I will be updating at least once a week.
